THE PRESIDENT of Southampton Diving Academy, Peter Waterfield is inviting experienced divers to compete at an Invitational Gala taking place this month (October).

The event, which is being organised by the Academy, will take place at The Quays Swimming and Diving Complex in Southampton between Saturday, October 20 and Monday, October 22 from 10am until 6pm.

Twenty-six-year-old Peter said: “The Gala will provide an opportunity for more experienced divers to make the qualifying standards to compete in the National Age Group finals, which will take place from Sunday, March 30 until Tuesday, April 1, 2008.

“It will also be a tracking event for the National Junior Talent programme involving many of the top Junior Elite divers from across the country so it will be a great opportunity for divers to show off their skills.”

The Olympic and Commonwealth diver, who trains at The Quays Swimming and Diving Complex in Southampton, has secured the British team a place in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing after his success at the FINA World Championships earlier in the year.
